Dr Malebo Mokotedi-Mapiloko

Dr Malebo Mokotedi-Mapiloko is the co-founder and managing director of a multidisciplinary medical centre, Mediwell Dainfern.   Mediwell boasts a state-of-the art radiology department, 9 medical doctors, an aesthetic clinic, a travel clinic, physiotherapy department, a mental wellness and play therapy centre, a Lancet laboratory,  and IV drip bar. This flagship positions itself as a centre for medical digitization and innovation.

Dr Malebo completed her matric with 6 distinctions and was a member of the Golden Key Society at Wits University for outstanding academic achievers.  She completed her MB BCh degree with 7 distinctions, attaining the top award for Psychiatry and a qualifying A average.

Her love for medicine collided with her entrepreneurial flare, sparking the idea of establishing medical centres of excellence.  Mediwell Dainfern has provided employment for over 32 people, of which at least 90% are women.  She is an active member of the Medical Women Association of South Africa.

Dr Malebo’s interest in psychiatry and mental health led her to establish her own online wellness business, THE LADY DOC.  The LADY DOC provides online mental health and wellness seminars and onsite full medical health assessments to companies and SMMEs. Companies she has worked with include: Standard bank South Africa, Puma Energy, Barloworld, Thekvest Group, IDF Capital, Hewlett-Packard and Insurance institute of South Africa, to name a few.

In the vein of mental health awareness and democratizing access to mental health services, Dr Malebo has partnered with her younger sister, Onkgopotse Khumalo – founder of the Pocket Couch – an award winning online therapy platform.  This application was voted “Top 5 health tech startups to invest in NOW ”, and nominated for the “She loves Tech Africa” and the “Yale Africa Startup awards.”

Dr Malebo continues to brand herself as a health technopreneur.  Together with her mother, Dr Maggie Mojapelo-Mokotedi, Mediwell has established a reformative digital application available on Appstores :  Smart Care Givers.  This application provides the elderly, frail or recovering patients access to trained caregivers and nurses that match their requirements.  The team is in the process of becoming SETA accredited and the development of this application has increased Dr Malebo’s potential for training young women and creating even more job opportunities using digitization in the nursing and caregiving industry in South Africa.

In between business and medicine, Dr Malebo and her husband, Nthato Mapiloko run a Ministry in Soweto called Renew Christian Centre (npc).  Over the past 5 years, Renew has partnered with various high schools and primary schools where they endeavour to inspire the next generation with moral regeneration, hope and access to tertiary scholarships through strategic partnerships with academic support and scholarship providers.  They have adopted selected families in need and a primary school in Brits, North West:  Komane Primary school, and with the help of their partners and Church, have donated practical needs such as  industrial printers for the schools, girls feminine hygiene products and fresh underwear to restore dignity and self esteem..  They are passionate about  GOD, prayer, and meeting the practical needs of individuals, and this has led them to host monthly interdenominational prayer events and youth festivals in Soweto.

During Covid Dr Malebo and her mother founded the Health Care heroes memorial foundation, a passion project which provided support for families of frontline workers who passed on due to Covid and created an online memorial for those who lost their lives. She then went on to partner with 702 to host one of the largest walk for heroes in scrubs during the 2020 702 walk the talk .  She authored  a freely available online Christian journal, “Conversations in Isolation” – providing spiritual, emotional and medical support to those affected with Covid.

She is a prolific philanthropist and a GOD fearing woman , a dynamic keynote speaker, powerful preacher, motivator, an astute business woman, a compassionate medical doctor, wife and mother,  and has a deep love for people.
