Gugulethu Mhlungu

Gugulethu Mhlungu

Gugulethu Mhlungu is a South African  presenter on Talk Radio 702. She is also the deputy editor of Bona magazine.  Gugulethu has nearly a decade of experience in media (both on and off-air) and volunteer work. She’s also the Lifestyle editor and writer at City Press, a position she’s held since 2014. 

At 21 she was made the station manager of RMR, Rhodes Music Radio, and was the youngest station manager in South African broadcast history.

Gugulethu Mhlungu has served as chairperson and deputy chairperson of the Eastern Cape Communication Forum representing both print and broadcast entities in the province. She has also served as a board member for the Eastern Cape Community Radio Forum.

Gugulethu Mhlungu has a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism & Media Studies and Anthropology from Rhodes University and completed an honours level post grad diploma in media management.

Her work with YouthLab saw her creating platform for young South Africans to become active participants in all spheres of civic life while also providing tools and skills that enable young people to contribute meaningfully to South Africa.

In 2015 she won the Columnist of the Year award at the 2015 Media 24 Legends Awards.
