Joy Sebenzile P. Matsebula

Joy Sebenzile P. Matsebula graduated with a B.Sc (Natural Sciences; Environmental Sciences &
Biometrics) from the University of Botswana in 1981. She went on the complete her M.Sc (Biometrics) at
Pennsylvania State University in the USA in 1984.

During her professional career, she held positions of Research Officer: Biometrician, Deputy Director and
Director: Office on the Status of Disabled Persons in the Presidency. She currently holds the title Executive
Director of Motswako Office Solutions (Pty) Ltd.

Joy Sebenzile P. Matsebula expertise includes Board governance, human rights, social justice, disability mainstreaming, scientific
research, statistical design and analysis, monitoring and evaluation, and report writing, among others.
Some of her career recognition includes a nomination to serve on the Committee of the United Nations
Convention for Persons with Disabilities in 2012. She was one of 12 women with disabilities who were
selected for the 2012 NATIONAL TRIBUTES, an award to recognise achievements of outstanding women with
disabilities in SA. Joy Sebenzile P. Matsebula won the category of Research and Development. In 2014, she was recognised
as an entrepreneur with a disability who has displayed outstanding personal achievements in business.

She is currently chairperson of the Disability Empowerment Concerns Holding Company and Divuseni Women
with Disabilities. She also serves on the Board of the following companies:

• National Library for the Blind
• Ministerial Transport Sector B-BBEE Charter Council

• Taquanta Investment Holdings Company
She previously served on the following boards:
• Chairperson – Disability Workshop Development Enterprise
• Presidential Advisory Council on Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment
• International Action on Disability and Development
• TRANSFARMS – an initiative to develop emerging farmers and Cheshire Homes of South Africa.
