Monish Dut

Monish Dutt is a seasoned investment professional who is a Consultant on Emerging Markets. Monish Dut is a Director of SagicorFinancial Corporation, a pan-Caribbean insurance group with assets of US$6 billion; he is also on the Board of Sagicor Life Insurance Corporation, the Group’s operations in the US based in Florida; and he is on the Board of Sagicor Bank, Jamaica. In addition, he is a Director of Peak Reinsurance, Hong Kong, part of the Fosun Group of China. Further, he is also a member of the Washington based Board of FINCA Microfinance Holdings, with operating subsidiaries in over 20 countries in Eurasisa, LatAm and Africa.

Prior to this, he was for 25 years (through 2011) with the International Finance Corporation (a member of the World Bank Group). For the last seven years at IFC, Monish was Chief Credit Officer for Global Financial Institutions & Private Equity Funds, a Director level role. He was an ex officio member of Investment Review Meetings Committees. He also oversaw Portfolio performance, and represented IFC on Boards of investee companies. Earlier, Monish was the Head of IFC’s Private Equity Advisory Group. Previously, between 1996-1999, he was the Division Head of the Baltics, Central Europe, Turkey and Balkans Group, during which he led investments in several privatization transactions. Prior to that, he was (in reverse sequence) Principal Investment Officer for Asia, Senior Investment Officer for Central & Eastern Europe and an Investment Officer for Africa, Latin America and Asia. Before joining the IFC, Monish worked for four years with Ernst & Young, London.

Monish has an MBA with a concentration in finance from the London Business School, London University, and a BA in economics with honors from St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi. Monish is a Chartered Accountant (equivalent to a CPA) accredited as a Fellow by the Institute of Chartered Accountants, London, England.
