George Enyima Armah

George Enyima Armah of the Electron Microscopy & Histopathology (EM) at the Noguchi Memorial Institute, University of Ghana, Legon is the Chairman of the VALCO Board. Prof. Armah holds an MSc in Physics from the University of Ghana Legon, and a PhD in Bio-physical Chemistry and Immunology from Osaka University, Japan.

George Enyima Armah is a member of several international scientific Boards and Committees and was recently recognised as a “Vaccine Hero” by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. In 2013 he was honoured by the International Double stranded RNA Virus conference in Puerto Rico for his outstanding contribution to the field of Rotavirus virology and for Rotavirus Vaccine introduction in Africa.

Administrative Role

George has also played the administrative role as the Head of EM at the Noguchi Memorial Institute and the Master of Commonwealth Hall, University of Ghana, Legon. His research interests are in viral gastroenteritis and malaria immunology and pathogenesis.
