Rob Forbes
Rob Forbes is an award-winning radio presenter from Joburg. He currently speaks to almost half a million people every week on his prime weekday slot from 1pm-4pm on 5FM, SA’s most popular youth radio station. Rob has also bent his talents to the DJ world, and now regularly rocks dance-floors at clubs and festivals all over the country.
Rob discovered his broadcast talents at university in Pretoria, where he spent 10 years honing his skills as a presenter, producer, sound engineer and voice artist. He’s been an ever-present nominee at the MTN radio awards and intends to remain a fixture in the radio landscape for decades to come.
Originally from Pretoria and with stints in Cape Town and London under his belt, Rob is recently married and settled with his wife and his deaf rescue-cat in leafy central-Joburg.
Rob has built himself into the consummate man for every occasion. Equally at home making fire in the wilderness in Botswana, suiting up for the theatre or partying it up at electronic music festivals in Europe, life for Rob is about experiences, not things. He is a fan of fine dining, good wine, better scotch, spending time in the kitchen, relaxing with some serious literature or having a braai over some live sport with friends. Renowned for being warm and friendly, it’s this open-ended pursuit of happiness that makes Rob the positive and outgoing guy he is.
Rob has made sure he involves himself in as many things as possible that cross his path. He’s been the voice for major South African corporations; MC’d at massive festivals, rocked crowds of thousands from behind the decks and helped brands access millions via social media campaigns and activations.
Rob has also spent a lot of time developing an understanding and practical knowledge of vast elements of the media landscape – everything from audio and video editing to graphic design, typography, copyrighting, photography, music production, news and journalism. He also creates innovative ideas for brands to launch new products and platforms.
