Courtney Gehle

Courtney Gehle is the Communications and Digital Content Coordinator at Global Changemakers she is also a founder The Better Tomorrow Movement. Courtney is a 23-year-old honours graduate in Environmental and Geographical Sciences at the University of Pretoria (UP). She is a Alumni at Brightest Young Minds, Co-founder at The Greenline, Former Editorial Board Member at EDD Young Leaders Programme and Former Business Development Assistant at UNIDO – United Nations Industrial Development Organization.

She represented South Africa at COP21, was a top 5 finalist of the South African Eco-Youth Award and was named one of Africa’s 100 Brightest Young Minds in 2015. She was selected as 1 of 20 Southern African Student Leaders by the U.S State Department, became a member of the Golden Key International Honours Society, was named a Global Changemaker and awarded South African Green Student of the Year in 2016. Courtney was also named a Young Leader for Development by the European Commission in 2017 and a Global Citizenship Education Youth Leader by UNESCO in 2018.

Courtney Gehle has represented South Africa at several international conferences, most notable were the European Development Days 2017 – where she spoke on a high level panel on renewable energy in Africa alongside world leaders – and the COP21 negotiations in Paris in 2015 where she was one of 8 people from across the world selected to draft the Youth Resolution on climate change used by world leaders in the negotiations. She also gave a key note address at the 2018 Shepard Symposium in the USA.
