Dr Raeesa Aboobaker
Dr Raeesa Aboobaker Aboobaker holds a Masters Degree in homoeopathy. Soon after completing her studies in November 2011, she started consulting in Umlazi and after a few months of doing so she decided to set up a small one room practice on Florida Road, She also became involved in a family business investment alongside a food technologist producing meal replacements for the malnourished as well as obese. This is when she had initiated Dr Bakers Superslim Weight Loss clinic, alternating between Umlazi and Florida road. Initially she had a client base of around fifty, and focused mainly on constitutional homoeopathic treatment and weight loss.
In July 2012, she relocated her practice to the A&T Medical centre outside Parklands Hospital, and it was here that in 2013 she introduced technology in the form of laser liposuction, as well as laser skincare for the treatment of acne and scarring.
In March 2013 she was approached by a community radio station to sponsor the health segment on their breakfast show. The show was a hit with the listeners and gained popularity to such an extent that listeners would actually park their vehicles at the side of the road in order to catch the whole show.
During the course of May 2013 Dr Raeesa was approached by venus concept a Canadian aesthetics company to introduce its world class award winning technology to her practice, This allowed her to provide her patients with complete results from face to feet and also included the treatment of cellulite, fat deposits as well anti-ageing treatments with zero downtime. During the same time she was also approached by a German skincare brand – Etrebelleto stock its skincare range and after a successful launch this became the first international skincare brand to arrive on our shelves. In December 2013 she was once again approached by venus concept to introduce the rest of their technological range in exchange for becoming the key opinion leader in my area.
By March 2014 Dr Raeesa’s practice had a full fleet of equipment and was by far outgrowing her space. She decided at this point in June 2014 to produce a recipe book that would assist her patients in making better choices without compromising on flavour. After months of research,cooking, preparing and editing she published her recipe book “skinny delicious” , two thousand copies of which have been circulated to date.
As the clinics aesthetic offerings and client base grew, in April 2015 it became necessary to once again relocate this time to a spacious building in which she was also a shareholder in Peter Mokaba (Ridge road) in Overport. The entire ground floor became the new home to Dr Bakers Weight loss and Aesthetics.
Technology at Dr Bakers is constantly being updated in keeping with global trends in the non-surgical aesthetics industry. We currently operate as a state of the art aesthetics clinic. Using the latest in venus concept body contouring and anti-ageing technology. Venus freeze is a product of venus concept which describes itself as a progressive thinking company driven by its passion to create cutting edge technology and products, The doctor had expanded her venus range to include venus viva and venus legacy. Dr Bakers is in cognisance of the fact that everyone is comfortable with technology driven aesthetic and continues to offer traditional weight loss treatment via a holistic programme comprising of an initial consultation in which an IN BODY analysis is performed on the patient – this allows her to give the patient a detailed image of what is happening inside of their body and also enables her to check on important components such as water,bone,minerals, protein, visceral fat and much more in depth readings, blood tests, a tailored eating plan and regular follow up appointments.
Since 2014 the doctor has been developing new oral weight loss and skincare supplements like the ever popular weight loss drop, The Fat Binder, Bloating complex, Carboblock as well as the pigmentation complex.
The doctor has ever since gone on to grow her client base from just fifty to over 3000,she now offers online consultations and has patients as far as Dubai seeking her help, Her work has inspired many females both young and old, she is a role-model to many of these females as well.
Dr Raeesa has many requests to open up branches and routinely used to fly to Johannesburg for just a day and eventually the client base grew so muc she had to end up spending weekends covering the appointments that were made which eventually lead to her opening a branch in Rosebank which she visits regularly to see patients.
Juggling various responsibilities is not usually easy, and often people express surprise when Dr Raeesa tells them that she was married and pregnant with her first child before she even began with her studies, although her parents belonged to a higher income bracket she decided that she wanted to complicate her life even further by financing her own studies! Consequently she did everything from selling Tupperware to being a saleswoman to working part time for her father, in an effort to gather the funds she required to cover her tuition fees. Her second child was born on the day on which she handed in her masters dissertation, so again striking a balance was challenging, she now has 4 children. Dr Raeesa was ambitious from the word go and realising these ambitions was not always easy. In order to expand to aesthetics she had to turn to her father for financial backing as she was not initially able to afford the technology.
Dr Raeesa often motivates young women and is called upon by schools to give motivational talks,she has a huge following due to her caring nature and excellent results, she often treats patients who cannot afford her treatment and recently coordinated one of the biggest baby drives during the Floods in KZN – She not only only aided the poor and effected but anyone in the community that needed bare necessities and especially baby food, formula, diapers and even clothes.
