Hon. Abdessalem Ould Mohamed Saleh

Minister of Petroleum, Mines and Energy Mauritania

Mr. Abdessalam Ould Mohamed Saleh holds a degree in economics from the Faculty of Law and Economics of Tunis, a postgraduate degree (DEA) in economics from the University of Paris I Panthéon- Sorbonne (France) and an International Degree in Public Administration from the National School of Administration (ENA) of Paris.

Mr. Abdessalam Mohamed Saleh started his professional career in 1985 in the Ministry of Economy and Finance in Mauritania and held several senior positions in the Administration. He joined the cabinet in 1997 as Minister of Fisheries and Marine Economy and in 1998 was appointed to the newly established position of Commissioner for Human Rights, fight against poverty and re-insertion.

Mr. Mohamed Saleh joined the FAO of the UN in 2003 where he held several senior positions, including his last position as FAO Regional Representative for the Near East and North Africa.

Mr. Abdessalam Ould Mohamed Saleh has held the position of Minister of Petroleum, Mines and Energy of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania since August 2020.
