Museeq IQ credits his father Themba Khumalo as being the biggest influence in his music career. His earliest memories are of his fathers’ music collection and the sounds that filled their humble home.

Born in Kwa Mashu 11 January 1983, Siphiwe Khumalo, developed a strong ear for music through listening to some of the world’s greatest musicians from an early age. His father was a massive music fan and his hunger for good music dominated their family life.

Museeq IQ grew up listening to the sounds of Motown, Jazz, Afro Jazz, Blues, Soul and Funk. Artist like Marvin Gaye, Micheal Franks, Maze,Barry White, Hugh Masakela, Etta James, Ray Charles, Little Richard and James Brown were the soundtrack to his life. Growing up in Kwa Mashu has also had a major influence on his development as a musician and his adolescent years were definitely dominated by the sounds of Kwaito, Hip Hop and House Music, South Africa.
