Sirili Ako

Sirili Miontini Akko is currently serving as a CEO for the Tanzania Association of Tour Operator (TATO) with a 300plus member base holding at least 70% of the tourism market share in Tanzania.

Mr. Akko who has been in the helm of TATO, the membership-based business advocacy agency for the tourism industry which earns the economy nearly $2.5bn annually (before COVID-19), has an experience of over fifteen years of work with the private tourism sector within EAC countries and Tanzania in particular, where he has been key personnel in forging public, private, partnership for mutual benefits.

Over these years, he has also successfully managed to consult with the several high profiles organizations at different times.  Latest and major assignments include the GIZ’s project on supporting East Africa Community integration through Destination Human Capital (DHC), a Strategic Partnership Specialist Consultant for then SSG Advisors (now Global Resonance) – a USA-based consultancy firm. He has done presentations to various fora including recent on AfCTA for the West Africa Tourism Round Table.

With a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the Prestigious Eastern and Southern Africa Management Institute (ESAMI), Mr. Akko has also received both long and short terms training stints from various Universities within and outside Tanzania
