Epamba Comfort Tuwa

Epamba Comfort Tuwa is a passionate feminist activist, blogger and ‘Let Girls Learn’ campaigner in Cameroon. Comfort is known for advocating for the rights of girls and women in education, health and security. As director with over three years’ experience at the Center for Livelihoods and Support to Sustainable Development (CLISSD), she has helped over 200 girls get an education, and convinced 5 local leaders to set laws preventing forced marriage, and 20 mothers to send their daughters to school. Epamba Comfort Tuwa also founded BeSafe handmade eco-friendly reusable pads to help girls and women manage their menses hygienically, with privacy and dignity. She uses interactive dialogues, girl-and-women’s clubs, workshops, and SMS to promote gender equality. Comfort is a Tourism graduate from the University College of Technology, Buea. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, she plans to continue empowering girls and women to be tomorrow’s workers, mothers, entrepreneurs, mentors, and leaders.
