Naledi Madala

Naledi Madala

Naledi Madala is a Barclays Bank‘s top economist who contributes to overall strategy for the bank and is responsible for macroeconomic market research. Prior to joining Barclays Bank Botswana she was a Research Fellow at the Botswana Institute for Development Policy Analysis (BIDPA) where she gained experience working in evidence based economic policy analysis, research, and public sector reforms. She was an Academic Visitor at the Urban Institute-Center on International Development and Governance in Washington DC where she coordinated research on urban service delivery, investigating the constraints on more effective, efficient and accountable delivery of essential services in selected cities in Sub Saharan Africa.

Naledi was selected as the Botswana Representative by the World Bank-IMF for the Young Africa Society Forum in 2015. She was selected as an Atlas Corps and CIPE Think Tanks Fellow in 2014. She was also awarded the Barclays F G Mogae scholarship in 2009 and holds a Masters in Economics from the University of Botswana. She is a frequent commentator on economic issues on local media houses and has presented at high level forums like the National Business Conference, Global Expo Botswana and BIHL Financial summit. She is a resident economist on the Yarona FM Buffet Breakfast show, on the professionals’ programme every Thursday where she shares economic insights.
